



An Inside into how the Aussie’s dominated in the pool in
Day One:
The first day began with Ian Thorpe showing his dominance in
the 400 freestyle. The Aussie came home with a time of 3.43.04 a shade behind
was his fellow countryman Grant Hackett (picture above), finishing in
second with a time of 3.43.64.
Day Two: This saw an emotional Petria Thomas
win her first ever individual Olympic gold medal as she came home fist in the
100m butterfly.
Day Six: This saw an impressive Grant Hackett come home
first in the 1500 freestyle with a time of 14.43.06.
Undoubtedly one of the greatest ever contests in the pool came on day three where the great Australian Ian Thorpe overpowered the young American wonderkid Michael Phelps in the 200m freestyle, Thorpe also saw off the challenge of Pieter Van Den Hoogenband who was the reigning Olympic champion.
